Dr Margaret Kerr and Mindfulness Scotland
Dr Margaret Kerr Margaret has had a mindfulness practice since the 1990s and completed a post graduate diploma in Mindfulness Based Approaches to Healthcare at University of Wales Bangor in 2005. She works as a psychotherapist, supervisor and artist. She runs retreats and practice sessions often outdoors, encouraging a connection to nature through mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness Scotland is a small registered charity (SCO41573) based in Glasgow. Our vision is to contribute to the development of a more mindful and compassionate Scotland.
We endeavour to engage in socially oriented rather than profit driven activity, working alongside the NHS and third sector organisations.
Almost all of our trustees and all of our volunteers are Health Professionals with backgrounds in both physical and mental health. ( totaling about 175 years of clinical experience!). We are all convinced of the benefits of mindfulness in our personal lives and passionate about sharing this within our areas of expertise. The charity has grown gently and organically into a warm and friendly community of practice.
We deliver mindfulness training and projects in a secular context based on the current evidence of the benefits of mindfulness for mental and physical well being.
Our ethos is to deliver Teacher training to professionals working within health and social care in order to support the delivery of good quality mindfulness training free of charge to those in need.
Our projects are delivered in partnership within the NHS and third sectors organisations in order to kick-start sustainable mindfulness teaching in a variety of settings.
