Dear Friends of the Holy Isle
Our trustees met online on the 16th August to review the current situation. They feel that, although the incidence of Covid-19 cases is less than before, there are still many unpredictable outbreaks both abroad and around the UK and they have decided that Samye Ling and the Centre here on the Holy Isle will remain closed until the end of 2020. The various travel connections involved in getting to the island, our shared facilities with open-plan kitchen and Dining Room and the fact that residents and guests mingle together just makes it too difficult to meet the current physical distancing and health and hygiene requirements.
In line with Scottish Government advice for reopening the countryside, yachters and kayakers are welcome to land on the Holy Isle to walk and enjoy nature, although for the time being we cannot welcome you into our Centre and gardens. Our little information centre, shop and toilet will also remain closed for now.
