Volunteering

FULL-TIME VOLUNTEERS AT THE CENTRE FOR WORLD PEACE AND HEALTH FOR 2024

We offer short- and longer-term volunteering opportunities with our kitchen, house care, garden and environment teams.

Enthusiasm and good will is the most important qualification but this year especially we are looking for people with experience cooking veggie/vegan food for large groups. We are also looking for willing helpers to work with our team in our wonderful Monk's Orchard and Wish-fulfilling organic vegetable gardens.

UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR GARDENERS AT THE INNER LIGHT RETREAT

The Holy Isle community had a very productive year in 2023, but sadly also bid farewell to Alec and Dolkar, two of our longest serving volunteers, who looked after the organic veg gardens at the south end of Holy Isle for over 20 years.
We would like to explore the possibility of taking on this garden to anyone interested.
The gardens and living situation are attached to the Inner Light women's retreat at the south end of the Holy Isle and are an oasis of calm with huge potential. The gardens have been largely untended through 2023 and will need the love and care of some industrious, practical folk to bring them back to life.
The successful applicant/s (couples are welcome to apply) would need to be Buddhist, or at least very favourably inclined, to have some experience in vegetable gardening (you don't need to be an expert), enjoy the quiet life, and available to live on-site for the whole of the 2024 season (April through October), with a view to a longer term stay. Some building skills would also be a plus. The capacity to be self-reliant and dedicated will be key to taking on this opportunity.
