Edie Irwin

Edie trained with Dr R.D.Laing, author of The Divided Self in the 70's and was a staff therapist at Wellspring in Edinburgh from 1980 to 1988. She co-founded the Edinburgh Tara Trust in 1986. Under the guidance of Dr Akong Tulku Rinpoche she developed further as a therapist and helped to create Tara Rokpa Therapy. She also co-edited Taming the Tiger by Akong.Rinpoche.

She completed a 3 year meditation retreat under the guidance of Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche at Kagyu Samye Ling in 1997 and published Healing Relaxation in 1999. She is a trainer in Tara Rokpa Therapy Training and delivers Tara Rokpa Therapy to groups worldwide.

Edie is a volunteer fundraiser for ROKPA USA, a branch of Rokpa International, a humanitarian organization dedicated to "Helping Where Help Is Needed" especially in Tibet, Nepal, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

In Edinburgh she practices as a psychotherapist, psychotherapy supervisor and massage therapist at Tara Trust (www.taratrust.com) where she also helps to support the Tara Institute for Tibetan Medicine Clinics and the resident doctor of Traditional Tibetan Medicine, Dr. Lobsang Dhonden.

Dietary requirements

Our kitchen is run by a team of volunteers. Our aim is to offer delicious vegetarian food but regretfully we can only cater for dietary requirements arising from a diagnosed medical condition.
